Job description

  • Carry out studies of technical infrastructure (mainly construction linked to buildings and/or laboratories with a nuclear character), carry out layout and concept studies and preliminary design jointly with your drafters/designers colleagues and/or external design offices;
  • set up basic concepts of technical facilities such as process piping, (nuclear) HVAC and other technical equipment in cooperation with our central technical services;
  • carry out size calculations with construction codes, norms and available data sheets according to conventional resistance of materials or with specific calculation tools;
  • write descriptive project notes for pending nuclear infrastructures as part of safety files (PSAR / SAR) for supervisory bodies such as FANC/AFCN and/or BelV;
  • write Technical Specifications for quality and specifications for implementing price quotations and public procurement procedures of designed buildings and infrastructures;
  • coordinate and follow up construction works.

Required qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Sciences or Master’s degree in Engineering sciences, preferably in mechanics, electromechanics or civil engineering;
  • broad experience and knowledge (>5 years) of mechanical design, manufacture and construction techniques, preferably in applications related to the nuclear field and knowledge of infrastructure works;
  • preferably knowledge of implementation codes for buildings and metal constructions (Eurocodes), lifting devices (NBN E52 and NUREG) and elementary seismic assessments (Eurocode 8);
  • optional: knowledge in pressure vessels (ASME VIII) and pressure pipes (ASME B31.3);
  • being able to fluently read and interpret technical drawings in the fields mentioned above;
  • being able to write technical reports and documents quickly and precisely in an appropriate style;
  • proven knowledge and skills in project management and in writing project planning;
  • practical and flexible;
  • good knowledge of English and Dutch, knowledge of French.
